Season 4 of Midnite Mausoleum begins 5/20

Our friends at Midnite Mausoleum have begun releasing Season 4, and we’ll start running them on Friday May 20. So far, the first three scheduled movies are:

Selectmen 5/9 Meeting delayed posting on Vimeo

The 5/9 Selectmen’s meeting is ready to be posted on Vimeo, but we have a limit on the number of GB we can upload in a week, and it’s too big to fit after getting the last Planning Board meeting up. So it’s going to sit and wait until our upload quota resets early next week, and then it will go up.

We keep the latest two meetings on the Amherst NH Board of Selectmen channel.

Planning Board added to Vimeo account

We’ve added an Amherst NH Planning Board channel to Vimeo, and started loading meetings there. We’ll keep the last two meetings up.

Converting the recording and uploading it to Vimeo takes 24-48 hours, depending on volunteer availability, size of the video file, and whether or not there are errors in the conversion process or upload. The last meeting, for example, was a 7 GB raw video file, which converted down to 3.2 GB, and then had to be uploaded to Vimeo… and the upload failed the first time. Each conversion attempt takes 2-5 hours, and each upload attempt also takes 3-5 hours. And, of course, we’re not staring at the screen watching progress bars while it happens, so if there’s an error it may take a while before we retry.

Streaming the Selectmen

We’re experimenting with making meetings we broadcast available for internet users with streaming. Not live… after the fact. We’ve set up an account on Vimeo and created the Selectmen channel. Last night’s meeting (3/14) is up and it looks pretty good. For the time being we’ll stick with the Selectmen meetings; once we get good at it we can look at Planning Board and perhaps even ZBA meetings.

2011 Town Deliberative Replay Schedule

The Town Deliberative Session was last Wednesday (2/9), and was 3:43 long. Replays of the deliberative have now been scheduled. They will run through Monday 3/7 (the day before the election).

Sunday: 5AM, 6PM (the ACTV Presents replay at 7:30 is cancelled and will resume 3/13)
Monday: Midnight, 5:30PM (replays of the Selectmen are cancelled; live meetings will be shown)
Tuesday: 3AM, 11AM (Selectmen replay moves to 3PM)
Wednesday: 3AM, 4PM (Planning board replay delayed to 7:42PM, live meetings will be shown)
Thursday: 3AM, 5PM
Friday: 3AM, 3PM (starting 2/25)
Saturday: 4AM, 1PM

As a byproduct, University Channel shows will not run starting 2/19 until 3/12.

Deutsche Welle European Journal

Starting next week, we will add Deutsche Welle’s European Journal to our lineup. Initially, it will run immediately after our University Channel programs; when the University Channel series runs out in late July 2011, European Journal will take over the timeslots.

While University Channel starts its weekly cycle on Saturday (repeating a few times during the week until the next Friday), EJ will start its cycles on Thursdays, and repeat until Monday.

For nearly 30 years, EUROPEAN JOURNAL has been public television’s main source of in-depth coverage of one of the world’s most dynamic regions. Fifty-two times a year, DW-TV provides viewers worldwide with a fascinating mix of stories exploring the important political, economic and cultural developments in Europe. Each week presenters Cathy Smith and Jim Gibbons provide their unique take on stories unfolding across the Atlantic, telling the story with compelling video, strong reporting, and a good sense of humor. Europe is a diverse part of the globe with many languages and cultures. Amherst Recreation Master Plan Presentation

The Recreation Commission met with the Selectmen on Thursday 11/18/10 and presented the Gale Associates report. The meeting (running time 1:25) will replay at the following times on Channel 20:

These replays will continue at least through mid-January.

Halloween Horror Marathon
